Dedicated to the memory of Paddy

This site is a tribute to Paddy, who was born on February 22, 1934. She is much loved and will always be remembered.

The death occurred at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on 12th August, 2018 of Jean Maplesden, aged 84 years.

The funeral service took place at Coleford Baptist Church on Thursday 30th August with Rev Robert Saunders officiating. The hymns How great Thou art and There is a redeemer were accompanied by the pianist, Howard Gibbard. Paddy’s eulogy was given by Roy Halson with readings by Naomi and Miles also Renée read the poem This too will pass away by Helen Steiner Rice. A recording of Pam Ayres reciting her poem Oh, I wish I’d looked after me teeth was played. The recessional music was (There’s) Always something there to remind me performed by Don Williams.

The service was followed by a committal ceremony at Forest of Dean Crematorium, the mourners entered the chapel to a recording of Dolly Parton singing Love is like a butterfly, the hymn All things bright and beautiful was followed by singing along to Vera Lynn performing We’ll meet again.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Ernest Heal & Sons Funeral Directors who are collecting donations for Great Oaks Dean Forest Hospice, which would be sincerely appreciated.
